Our Validation Comes From Our Father

Many people unknowingly look to other people, their job, money, prestige, or titles, to name a few, to validate them. Some examples could be getting promoted from being co-pilot to pilot, from being single to being married, moving from an apartment to a house, can all be a form of validation for some.

The proof of all of this comes to light when we are placed in a position to possibly have to leave something behind or make a change. Retirement can be difficult for someone if their job title validates them. For some, going from being in a relationship to being single can be difficult if the person they are in a relationship with validates them.

The things of this world, including people, can make us feel important, wanted, and even validate feelings where God wants to possibly make a change. The feelings that we can get from these things, as well as things we may try to hold on to can often be fillers that come from voids created by loneliness, low self-esteem, unresolved past circumstances, or even trauma. Our choices in life can often times come from the need to be validated.

All of us should seek the validation from one source and that source is the Lord. Outside of that affirmation and validation coming from anywhere else can often be fleeting, inconstant and seasonal.

When our hope and validation comes from God we are able to live a life that is consistently joyous in-spite of our circumstances and situations. Our self-esteem is not rocked if someone makes us feel bad or mistreats us. We won’t feel crushed when a change has to be made or is made beyond our control.

Allow the joy of the Lord to be our strength, the mercies of God to rest on us, the peace of God to rule in our lives.
