Who Should We Acknowledge
Everyday we have an opportunity to acknowledge something. We acknowledge individuals in a room that we walk into, we acknowledge our elders, we even acknowledge our daily struggles and defeats. And we also acknowledge our successes.
In life we can find ourselves seeking and asking God for instructions, answers, and directions.
Proverbs 3: 5-12 (MSG) says Trust GOD from the bottom of your heart; don't try to figure out everything on your own. Listen for GOD's voice in everything you do (acknowledge Him), everywhere you go; he's the one who will keep you on track. Don't assume that you know it all.
As mentioned in last weeks lesson David new first hand what this meant. During a time of war his family was taken away and all of their belongings were destroyed by the enemy when he was away from the camp with his men. When he returned only to see that his entire family was gone along with the families of the other men he was grieved in his spirit. And to make matters worse the men with him became angry at David and said that it was all Davids fault. David then made a decision to acknowledge God by seeking Him for answers and what he should do next. He did’t stay in his sorrowful position for very long.
Scripture Reading:
Acknowledge God during time of experiencing a time of lack or a drought
Lamentations 3:24- I say to myself, “The Lord is my portion; therefore I will wait for him.”
(We have to acknowledge Him by confessing His word during these times and not saying what the enemy or the challeniging situation is saying but what He said.)
Acknowledge Him through prayer
Luke 11: 11- 13 Which of you fathers, if your son asks for[f] a fish, will give him a snake instead? 12 Or if he asks for an egg, will give him a scorpion? 13 If you then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!”
(Are we going to HIm in prayer with the intention of hearing from Him? In order for Him to direct our path we have to pray with the intention that He hears us and will answer).
Acknowledge God by trusting Him
Surely God is my salvation; I will trust and not be afraid. The Lord, the Lord himself, is my strength and my defense he has become my salvation.”
(Are we trying to defend ourselves? He will defend you, don’t be afraid)
