What Are You Thinking? What we think can frame our lives.

For some people thoughts are simply visions and words that cross their mind that they can choose to act on or not act on and either way have no great impact on our lives. But according to God’s words our very thoughts play a much larger part in our lives. The things that we think and the way that we think can frame our entire being.

Our thoughts can make us feel sad, happy, joyful, excited, or depressed. We can be moved to do good or bad things, based on our thoughts.  Our thoughts have the power to move us to say positive  words about others to lift them up, or negative things to tear them down; to inspire and encourage or deflate and discourage.

Romans 12:2- Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.

In this life we have many things tugging at us. Our jobs, children, our spouse, the political climate, world issues, issues in our city and more. We have to literally manage our thoughts because if not our thoughts will manage us.

Philippians 4:8- Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.

If by chance we may be asking ourselves “then what do we think?” Phillippians cleary gives us instructions on what to think.

Isaiah 26:3 -You keep him in perfect peace whose mind stays on you, because he trusts in you.

If our minds are troubled, Isaiha tells us exactly what we need to do.  The power of the word of God can heal a troubled mind. We have to make every effort to keep our minds stayed on the Lord no matter how challenging things may get.

11 Corinthians 10: 4-5 (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds; Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;

Thoughts that are opposite of what God says can create images in our minds that cause us to see things that bring about fear, worry, and doubt. And there are times when thoughts can create situations that appear to be so detrimental that the manifestation are thoughts of suicide for some. God’s word is our weapon against the thoughts in our mind that are having a negative impact on our lives.  When we meditate on the word of God it goes to work on our behalf to fight against words that do not profit our lives.

Romans 8:7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.

Our own thoughts cannot be and never will be subject to God. As a matter of fact its opposite of anything that is Godly. If my thoughts are not directed by God and if it's not what He says it's carnel and against. There is no grey area here.

For us to have the victory in life we have to allow the word of God to rule over our thoughts.
