Breakthrough
When we talk about a breakthrough most of the time it is used in a context where our back has been up against the wall for quite some time now. At this point we have grown tired, gave up, or lost hope. For some of us we said good bye to something that we so desired to do, become or obtain that has now become a distant memory. Or we have given up on seeing a change in a particular situation. Some may need a breakthrough in their finances, job situation, mental health, or relationships, to name a few.
The feelings of hopelessness and being stuck can be debilitating. Life goes on but we are not really living but only existing. God wants more for us! He desires that we walk in victory and be able to overcome all of the obstacles we face in life. For we are His children so why wouldn’t this be so.
If in fact God is for us, with us, a great God, all powerful, and all knowing, our vindicator, healer, counselor, and more, and we are His children than what exactly is the problem? There are four possible reasons why a breakthrough may not have happened yet in our life:
1) We lost hope and gave up, (we can’t stand on His word and give up at the same time).
2) In frustration the words that we speak go against what God says in His word, (we cannot expect God results when we are speaking negativity at the same time).
3) We try to fix the situation ourselves to fit how we “see” things (the manifestation of what God has for us can be blocked by our actions that are not directed by God).
4) We are holding on to the past (God cannot move us into the future of what He has for us if we are holding on to the past).
Stand on God’s word
Hebrews 4:12 For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.
In this life we can often be our worst enemy. There is no reason to get into blaming others on any mishaps or misfortunes that we may be facing because we have access to the power of God who saw this day coming before you did. And people cannot stop you from having whatever God wants you to have. Therefore, if they cannot stop you from receiving what God has for you there is really nothing they can do to get in the way.
Isaiah 40:8 The grass withers, the flower fades, but the word of our God will stand forever.
In order to go through a “particular” season we have to remember that we are standing on something that will not fail. Just jump, take the first step and God has you!
Psalm 119:5 Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.
Getting a breakthrough requires trust that God will guide you through the process. It is important to trust what He says because on the journey it isn’t always going to look like what you would like it to look like.
Say What He Says
John 6:63 The Spirit is the one who gives life! Human strength can do nothing. The words that I have spoken to you are from that life-giving Spirit.
We have to watch our words. The words we speak are framing our lives on a daily basis no matter what the subject area is. We are either speaking words of life that are encouraging and positive or negative and discouraging. This is why we have to be mindful of our words when we are “feeling some kind of way.” We have to ask God to strengthen us during challenging times.
Our words, no matter how strongly we feel about them don’t profit God’s best, and often times can do great harm. But Gods words are life producing words.
Follow God’s Instructions
1 Samuel 13: -God chose Saul to be the first king of Israel. King Saul’s responsibility was to lead the people and help them follow God’s instructions. Samuel was a prophet and a priest for God. Samuel was responsible for telling the people messages from God. During a time of war Saul became scared and made a sacrifice unto the Lord for help. But he was not supposed to do that and went against the instructions that God had given him through Samuel. Needless to say the end result was that Saul lost his position as king sooner than he would have if he had done what God said.
It’s about obedience not whether what you did is an acceptable thing or not in the natural eye.
Let Go of the Past
Holding on the the past is not profitable for any of us. Moving forward we have to see ourselves as God sees us.
Forgive Yourself. God can and will forgive you!
1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.
Isaiah 43: 18-19 Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.
As we mentioned before we cannot pour new wine into old wineskins. (Luke 5:37)
