The Power Of Our Thoughts
Our actions are dictated based upon our thoughts. What goes in and out of our thoughts stems from what is in our heart. Changing what is in our heart can change the way we think.
Why is it important to be mindful of our thoughts? Because it can make the difference with regards to how we react in certain situations, how we perceive others, our perception of life, our perception on relationships, our perceptions about ourselves, and more.
For example are we can react in a situation based on our thoughts that may can cause harm to ourselves and others. Or we may react in a situation that we can be blessed by as well as bless others. Another example is our perception of others may cause us to dismiss someone when God wants to use them to bless us. Or our perception of others can cause us to be a blessing to them and they be a blessing to us. And another example is that the thoughts we have about ourselves can be a catalyst to take us into our God given destiny or hold us back in a place were we are stagnant, not moving or even regressing.
Therefore, that being said what we think is very important. And what we allow in our hearts is very important.
So what are some of the weapons we use regarding our heart?
Proverbs 4:23 AMP Watch over your heart with all diligence, For from it flow the springs of life.
We need to mindful of what we allow to stick in our hearts. We are all human and subject to being angry, sad and having all kinds of feelings. But we have to catch those feelings and not allow them to fester and deal with them at the door.
How do we deal with our thoughts immediately?
2 Corinthians 10: 4-5 KJV For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;
We have to remember that we are in a spiritual fight where the enemy will work through out thoughts if we let him. Because thoughts only come from one of two places, God or the enemy. We need to catch the thief and put him in a prison and throw away the key.
Why is it always best to seek out what God will say or do in any given situation?
Romans 8:7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.
This is good because we may think that there are times when we have a right to think a certain way or believe a certain something simply because it makes sense to us. However, it is always best to double check our thoughts to make sure we are indeed thinking the way God wants us to think about a situation, person or thing at any given time. Why, because we do not want to be in a place where we find ourselves going against God. The only way we can be subject to God is through His word by way of Jesus Christ living on the inside of us.
