Stay In a Safe Place; Put Your Hope in the Lord
When the past involves trauma, hurt and pain sometimes it can be difficult to move on. When the hurt involves others sometimes it can be difficult to forgive and give that person over to the Lord.
When we are faced with difficult times we have to keep in mind that God sees exactly what we are going through. If it involves others He sees what they are doing as well.
Hebrews 4:13 states, "And no creature is hidden from his sight, but all are naked and exposed to the eyes of him to whom we must give account." This verse emphasizes that God sees everything and nothing is hidden from Him, implying a complete transparency of our lives before Him, and that we will eventually be accountable to Him for our actions. This also means that those who have mistreated us will be accountable for their actions as well.
Psalm 37:1 - 9 Do not fret because of those who are evil or be envious of those who do wrong; for like the grass they will soon wither, like green plants they will soon die away. Trust in the LORD and do good; dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture. Take delight in the LORD, and he will give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the LORD; trust in him and he will do this: He will make your righteous reward shine like the dawn, your vindication like the noonday sun. Be still before the LORD and wait patiently for him; do not fret when people succeed in their ways, when they carry out their wicked schemes. Refrain from anger and turn from wrath; do not fret—it leads only to evil. For those who are evil will be destroyed, but those who hope in the LORD will inherit the land.
People who do wrong will not get away with anything. Their time before God deals with them is just for a season. While it may be difficult to sit back and watch an evildoer gloat over his wrong doings we don’t have to spend time fretting about them. (verse 1 and 2 for like the grass they will soon wither, like green plants they will soon die away.)
What is our job? What should our stance be? The best position for us to be in is to trust in the Lord regarding the situation no matter how difficult it may be.
What does it mean to be safe from the influence of the enemy and why is this important? (1 Peter 5:8 Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. ) This scripture references what happens on a good day not just when we feel like we are under attack. The enemy will try hard to trip us up. This scripture lets us know that we definitely need to stay in our safe place with the Lord.
Why should we not fret? (verse 7 Be still before the LORD and wait patiently for him; do not fret when people succeed in their ways, when they carry out their wicked schemes…Do not fret, it only leads to evil. ) The definition of the word fret is to be constantly or visibly worried or anxious. If we think our situation was bad…..
What happens to us when we stand still and trust in the Lord? We remain in a place of safety. We have to understand that we are in a spiritual battle so we cannot always see what God sees. Sometimes we see chaos with our natural eyes and we cannot see the angels that are covering us from danger, harm, and the influence of the enemy. (verse 3 we will dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture; verse 9 but those who hope in the Lord will inherit the land.)
We have to remember to stay in our lane because the lane the Lord has us in is filled with His promises, peace, joy, and blessings. Proverbs 18: 10 The name of the LORD is a fortified tower; the righteous run to it and are safe. What if we can get to a place where we can laugh at the enemy?
